Hello Members,

Just a short catch-up from me from sunny Corfu. I have also arranged for some good weather back home for you all, so I hope you are enjoying it!

Although we didn’t ‘bring it home‘, what a journey we had getting to the Euros final! The club was packed to the rafters cheering on England and the atmosphere was fantastic. It was lovely to see members young and old, coming together to celebrate.
We collectively consumed, 50kg of roast spuds, 500 hotdogs and 200 pork baps, testament to some of the hard work from the committee.
A big thank you to Andy Green for organising the bookings and for his technical expertise, Charlie for his organisation, sweep stakes and competitions.
The team of furniture shifters, Andy, Charlie, John, Roly, Chris, Mark, Adam, Baz and Natalie, who turned up before and after each match to get the club ready.
Lyn and Steve for helping out in the kitchen, and of course our amazing bar staff who worked their ‘football’ socks off.

The club was heaving for KTAF. With a jackpot of £3600 and only 2 Keys remaining, Nigel picked the lucky key and took the offer of £1800, leaving the remainder to go into a new pot of £2500 with 13 keys, on FRIDAY 2nd AUGUST.

Well done to Mel for completing the
3 PEAKS CHALLENGE, what an incredible achievement, and raising money for charity. Our thoughts are always with Mel, sending Harlow and the family our love and best wishes.

Saturday 31st August. 2-6 pm
We are holding a fun afternoon in the garden (weather permitting).
Barry and Kerry Williams will be organising games for the kids and Brooke Star will be singing for us, they’ll also be burgers and hotdogs on sale. This is a free event but names in the book please.
In the evening we have ELECTRIC 80’s returning to entertain us .Tickets are on sale now at £5. Please do support these events if you can.

Enjoy your summer holidays, let’s hope the good weather now remains for some time.

Dear Members
My 12th Newsletter & now on the run down to the end of my year as your president. You’ll be seeing a new face & probably a more interesting newsletter in May.
The EGM – Minutes are now on the website and the notice boards. Please do look out for the notice of the AGM on Wed 15th May with the usual nominations for committee posts to be in by 30th April.
There is an opportunity for members & their immediate family to advertise their business on the events TV in the club, the initial offer is for 6 months of advertising for £50. Please contact the club for further details.
What’s been going on
The Mother’s Day afternoon was another success for the club. A huge thank you to Sonia for organising, with the assistance given from Shelia, Sarah & our lovely servers Polly & Ava, to make this event a resounding success😊.

St Patricks Day evening was another sell out event for the club, “Fexless” did not disappoint again, their last visit to us was 2016. I’m sure their may have been a few sore heads the next morning judging by the Guinness sales that evening. Once again, our bar staff pulled it off again in ensuring that the drinks flowed steadily (Well done😊).  I will remind members to book early for tickets to save disappointment, as we had numerous requests for tickets near the event date. You must book early as all events are now selling out regularly, a waiting list will operate but we are limited on numbers. I would also like to remind members that for ticket only functions, members cannot attend to use members room without a ticket.

The Spindler Quiz was due to be held 23rd March has been moved to 13th April. Apologies if this causes any inconvenience.

Timings are approx. 3-5pm with an entertainer a light snack for the children (If parents behave, we may give them some snacks too😊). As usual it is limited to club children to a maximum of 50 children. Book now Open

20th April Mucky Fingers (a St Georges Day celebration)
An indie rock band playing covers from artists such as: Killers, The Kooks, Artic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, Oasis, Simple Minds, Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs to name but a few. If your into that, get your tickets early. £5 members & guests’ tickets on sale 22nd March

Dear Members
My 10th Newsletter to you, there’ll might be one more before I pop off skiing in a few weeks, but don’t hold your breath😊 Members & guests your support for events in 2023 has been greatly appreciated, I look forward to seeing you in 2024
Thank you to all those writing in & passing on verbal comments about the new furniture. It’s a great investment for the club & whilst we are proud of it, we would like to keep it that way for many years to come. Concerns have been raised by some members where dogs have been seen on seats. Members please refrain from doing this unless you have a protective covering with you.
The inclement weather has prevented many children from the use of our outside facilities. Parents must always be mindful of other members when inside by monitoring your children, a couple of near misses have occurred with electrical leads & curtains which could have cause some distress for parents & the club. Also please prevent children from playing on furniture.
Ever tried clay pigeon shooting? A 60-bird clay shoot at Brick Kiln Farm, near Four Marks, Alton happens on the last Sunday of every month. All are welcome, and no previous experience is necessary. Please contact Alan Bishop or Pete Ogden for further details or leave your contact details behind the bar or through the suggestions/request form on the web page.
A huge congratulations goes to Steve Avis who has been given an Honorary Membership in recognition of the many years of time, effort & dedication he has put into this club, with over 15years in some capacity on running the club. I can only thank him for his sterling efforts. (Well done Steve)
A reminder that members must sign in their guests for every visit to the club, guest are required to leave when the member signing them in leaves the club. There have been occasions when this requirement under our licencing condition have not been followed. Members flouting this rule will be subject to committee involvement.
You will notice a slight change in the happy hour offerings within the club, this has been altered for the benefit of members whilst attracting attendance at your club.
What’s been going on
The committee have been mostly reviewing 2023 events & setting out plans to keep the club moving forward in a challenging environment. Tough times are ahead, but we will endeavour to improve whenever while maintaining the club fit for purpose.
What can I say about the panto players? Absolutely fantastic, it gets better every year. Well done cast & all the backstage crew, our brilliant young future members shone a brightly this year & of course a big thank you to our resident director Alan Jenkins. He really doesn’t need much acting up to play the part of the baddie😊 So the face paint comes off for this year & hopefully the search will be in full swing for a suitable script for next year. Thanks guys & gals (that includes you JW & AJ😊). You deserve a big wrap party (Well Done)
