I hope this email finds you all well.
We are living in unprecedented times but hopefully we are now seeing a positive roadmap out of this situation.
Being Vice President and in turn President is both an honour and a privilege for me. I will do my very best to add value to this fine tradition of our amazing club.
Having been Adam’s Vice President for 2019 and more recently 2020/21 Covid times I have seen first hand how Adam has been a shining example of the kind of qualities and values a Club President needs to demonstrate.
This is endorsed by the many messages sent in wishing Adam and his family well and he will certainly have appreciated that.
Onwards and upwards
As most of you will know the government roadmap plans for hospitality reopening indoors on 17th May and we have this as a firm date in our diaries to open the club subject to the guidelines.
We have deliberated long and hard about a garden opening between that time and there are a myriad of logistical and compliance issues as well as a lot of potential costs in order to be viable.
There is also a complete reliance on weather and outdoor temperature due to limited cover.
For these reasons we were not in a position to open the garden on the 12th April.
We are hoping that we may be able to put on some individual garden events between now and 17th May however this will be dependent on a number of factors that need to be both compliant and viable. We are looking at this as we speak.
We will update you on this in due course if and when we resolve all the issues and notwithstanding how the weather pans out.
Following feedback from the survey to which we had an encouraging participation we have been busy planning the entertainment diary for later in the year.
A number of favourite artists, bands and events have been booked throughout year along with some new ones.
We will add more as we go. Please keep an eye on your emails and check the website.
After a year of restrictions in one form or another I am determined that we will offer a programme full of cheerful reasons to those who have missed the club during this pandemic. Ideas and feedback are welcome.
Lastly I would like to remind you all that we are a not for profit organisation and as Carlton Club members we all own this club.
We should never take for granted that this is our club and our community and something that we can be rightfully proud of.
All funds we generate go towards the successful running, maintaining and improving of the club.
The club officers and the committee work tirelessly to help make this club the success it is and we know it is appreciated if a little challenging at times.
Equally, positive input from Members is a really important component in the running and development of our club.
Naturally, we value our staff, members and their guests alike and will continue to try and bring added value to our members wherever and whenever we can.
Constructive feedback and support to help us on this journey is most welcome.
The club AGM is planned for 30th June - roadmap permitting. We welcome your attendance if you are able.
Finally, I wish you all a healthy, happy and prosperous year coming up and look forward to seeing you all as soon as we are able.
Kind Regards
Andy Green
Acting President
