Roger Reynolds
Roger Reynolds the Club Secretary has decided to stand down as Secretary at the next Annual General Meeting (AGM). After being in the post for over 17 years, he has decided to hand the reins over to somebody else. The committee will keep you informed of this as things progress. I would and I am sure I am speaking for past Presidents, Trustees, Committee Members and Members like to thank Roger for all his hard work, dedication and commitment over the course of his time as Secretary. Roger has informed us that he would still like to organise the annual trip to Goodwood. On behalf of everyone I would like to wish Roger the best of luck for the future and wish him well in whatever he decides to do.
Club Secretary
Following Roger’s resignation, this has created the need for a new Club Secretary. The Club Secretary Role is a paid position and if you feel this is something you would consider please can you write in and express your interest to the committee.
Refurbishment of the Club
The next stage of the refurbishment will be announced in the next few weeks. Keep an eye out on the notice board and email for the latest updates. We are still tweaking with the heating after some Members fed back to the committee that the temperature was not quite right.
Family Friendly Policy
The minutes of the meeting has been distributed via email. If you have not received a copy please contact the club.
Additional TV
An additional TV has been purchased and has now been put up in the Snooker room; this will be used when there is a club function that clashes with a sporting fixture. In addition a separate sky box is being installed. This will be advertised in advance to allow plenty of time to inform the snooker players. In principle, the snooker players will have precedence over the use of the room. Further guidance will be made available over the next few days/weeks.
Sponsorship of Private Hire
We had an incident after a recent private hire where neighbours of the club were disturbed and there was some damage to the upholstery inside the club. This has now been dealt with by the committee. However, we would like to remind potential sponsors that they are responsible for their guest’s behaviour and that we have neighbours to consider and bad behaviour will not be tolerated. Please think carefully before you sponsor a private function as your membership is at risk if your guests do not behave in the appropriate manner.
Membership Cards
We have had some really successful events over the Christmas period and due to this success the committee has reviewed how tickets are distributed. Where there are closed events e.g. New Year Eve the tickets will be restricted to Members in the first instance. The use of Membership cards to purchase tickets will be introduced for a trial period for the next event which is the Ska and Northern Soul event on 8th April.
Membership cards will need to be used to enter the club on any night (including club/private functions). This is for the safety of the staff and club Member’s. If you do not have a membership card or it does not work please let the bar staff know or Steve Avis and a replacement card will be issued.
