NEWSLETTER - March 2017
Dear Members
This is my penultimate newsletter …. time goes quickly when you are having fun! This newsletter gives you an update on some projects that are happening within the club and provides you with key dates for some exciting events planned over my last couple of months as your President.
DIY SOS - calling all trades people
We are in the process of converting the upstairs committee room into a more comfortable space to be used within the club for all our members. So far, some members of the Committee have been working hard undertaking some of the initial building works – however - we will soon be at the stage where we need to call on your talents as members. If you have and plastering, carpentry or decorating skills, or are willing to help with labour please email Paul Osborne or speak to a committee member. We would like to keep the cost of this conversion to a minimum, so if you have a trade, are handy with a power tool, a keen DIYer or just willing to help – please let us know. Paul’s email is [email protected]
Top News on Tables
You may have already noticed the lovely new table tops we now have throughout the club. This has already started to give the club a new and fresh look. Some slight adjustments still need to be made which will be completed in the next week or so.
Price Increases
At the recent Budget it was announced the cost of beer, cider, wine and spirit duty will now increase, this added together with the seasonal rise of cost from the brewery leaves us no alternative to amend our prices. A price list will be displayed on the notice board with the drinks that are due to increase. This will become effective from 1st April 2017.
FREE Wine Tasting
The committee have taken on board comments made by some members regarding the price of bottled wine. To assist us to rectify this we will be holding a FREE wine tasting evening from 6pm on Sunday 2nd April. This will enable you and the committee to test some wines that we may introduce to the club in the future.
Our aim is to have a less expensive wine choice (a house wine), a medium priced wine and a higher end priced wine to suit all pallets and pockets. Please put your name in the book, to ensure we have enough wine for you all to taste. Unfortunately, if your name is not in the book you may not have the opportunity to try the FREE wine and influence the future wine stock of the club.
A FREE cheeseboard will also be offered to complement the wines.
Playing around with the gaming machines
For those of you who are keen gamers you will of already noticed we have changed the gaming machines. We now have (for a trial period) three machines for you to play. One machine has a massive 90% pay-out!! We will be reviewing the popularity after a trial period, so your feedback would be most helpful. This is at the request of the membership.
Polite Request
Please can Members take their empty glasses (and any rubbish) to the bar when they have finished with them. The Committee and the bar staff would appreciate this, especially when the club is busy.
