Dear Members
The club refurbishment continues at pace now, you will have already seen a change in colour with new blinds as an addition to the tired curtains that were present (conservatory curtains will also be replaced), all toilets are being given a new coat of paint with the basin taps being replaced. A new carpet has been ordered along with new vinyl for the dance floor area, additionally we will be adding a strip around the bar where most spillages occur and new ceiling tiles will replace the tired ones in the hall to give a new, fresh effect.
The door card reader is nearing the point when we can reinstate our entry system to comply with club rules; the CCTV system has been surveyed to ensure we have a safe level for staff, members and their guests’ security. New cards will be issued to members on renewal of membership in April. The tills are at their end life and no longer supported so the committee are considering our options for the best replacement.
Furniture is a constant issue when club is busy with members moving tables around, I will ask that tables are returned to their original rooms when finished with, your co-operation is welcomed, as an aside we would ask the snooker players if fixed tables would be of benefit in the snooker room to ease the transient use of furniture.
Toys for children’s use will shortly be placed in a purpose built storage box in the alcove at the far end of the hall. Parents are reminded to ensure that toys are returned neatly to the box when their child has finished playing, your assistance is greatly appreciated with this. A big thank you to Abby Bowley for organising all this and we hope the children enjoy the new additions.
I have a few places left for the Army v Navy rugby match at Twickenham on the 5th May. There will be a champagne breakfast at the club, coach up and entry tickets for this sell out game. Please see me for availability, but be quick - cost is £60.
Can I remind all temporary members to sign visitors book in the club (even when attending club functions) to ensure your attendance is recorded in line with Club rules. On a negative note I remind all that our policy on drugs is zero tolerance, the Police are assisting us in ensuring this family club is kept free of its existence in the Club. The visitors signing in book is a legal document to comply with licencing laws so please refrain from defacing this with unnecessary comments. Any member wishing to air their views should do so in writing to the Club Secretary. May I also remind members that the toilet at end of hall has been designated a multi-purpose use toilet for all genders and abilities?
Saturday 10th March
All members are invited to a charity night this Saturday, Sam Wheeler has been fund raising for a brain tumour charity including a marathon run, if you can please come along and support his efforts and raise some money for this important cause.
