In this the 7th newsletter to you I must make an apology to all for the forthcoming event planned for our (club member) band Kojak’s Revenge on 11th Nov. I admit that I guessed wrongly in believing that the pricing for this was the same as last year, I was wrong L. So the ticket price will be altered to £8 pounds for members & £10 for non-members (refunds for those who have already purchased tickets), tickets are on sale and will be a first come first served from 22nd Oct.
Putting that hiccup aside, I cannot believe that lots of members missed these recent events, where were you? To those who attended and continue to support the club, I thank you, to those that don’t I urge you to support your club.
Sept 22nd
Soul Suspects was a free night with a great band, thanks you to those who helped with the raffle tickets, Rosie, Anne and Sue. And the good news is that the band will be returning next year in May for another gig (a pay for one this time).
Sept 30th
The “Late Late Beer and Cider Festival Ball”, a well-attended event supported by the Somerset Band “Twice Dailies”, not everyone’s cup of cider but all in all a very good evening despite the rain trying to spoil the real ale drinkers in the garden. Perhaps Lesley will be looking at a Oompa band next year? Special thanks to those who assisted to the event, Gina, Melly, Lyn, Rosie, Lesley, Gayle, Steve, Chris, Phil, Andy and Adam. These events don’t happen without volunteers helping before, during and after.
For all those who attended the Beer Festival, there is a Beer and Wine survey on the website, please give us your feedback which will influence our stock. http://carltonclub.weebly.com/general-info.html
Oct 8th Golf
It was the annual competition of the president’s cup played at Petersfield Golf club, thanks to Paul Taylor for hosting us at your club and also to Jeff Oaks for organising. A special well done goes to Lyn, Sonia and Steve for the excellent food after. The winner of the cup after a very exciting day was our very own secretary Chris Jenkins. For all those future budding golfers who are thinking of playing, let the club know if you want to join this society. The chief handicapper will be adjusting the lucky winners and hopefully taking a close eye on my score and being a little more kind to me.

An update on communications for all members to note;
The email system looks like it’s working again after some disruption recently, action by Nigel Farrar seems to have cured that for now, thanks for that Nigel. If you are still not getting emails, I would urge you to use the website @ www.carltonclub.weebly.com and send us a note on the contact us facility with your email address. Don’t forget that all events are on the website, along with the blog for all newsletters and information; there are “what’s on cards” in the club as well - so get those important dates in your diary.
Refurbishment & Ladies and Gents Toilets
The refurbishment of the club continues, the committee room is almost completed and will be available for those wishing to play darts as a second board will be accommodated in this room (remember it is available to book for meetings). The committee would welcome your views on the toilets; they are looking a little tired so we want to make them fit for purpose. (Please contact the Secretary with your views)
Smoking and Vaping Policy
The committee has held in abeyance the removal of vaping in the club for some time now, however due to several concerns raised and the number of persons now vaping, particularly on busy club events and private functions, the committee has decided that vaping will fall in line with the smoking policy, this will only be permitted in the smoking area at the rear of the club.
