Dear Members
12th newsletter from me with just over 3 months to go till I hand over to Lesley Bleach for the forthcoming year. The refurbishment of the club continues and you will see a difference in how the club looks very soon; we are altering the colour scheme with new blinds as well. A water based system will replace the tired toilets in the gents as well.
We are no longer accepting credit cards at the bar due to new legislation and high charges for use. But we will still accept debit cards. Our 50% profit margin will still be maintained. We are looking at introducing a new generation proximity card for door entry and new tills as the tills are beyond their life now and can no longer be supported. I would also like remind all temporary members that their regular attendance is necessary in order to gain full membership.
I have limited places for the Army v Navy rugby match at Twickenham on the 5th May. There will be a champagne breakfast at the club, coach up and tickets for this sell out event. Please see me for availability.

13th January - Race Night
Chris Erskine did a fantastic job ably assisted by Lyn, Steve & Chris J (thanks guys). The caterers messed up with the food as one member did not get their fish & chips, a refund was given immediately along with Chicken & Chips as compensation. I will be having communication with Mothers Kelly to ensure there is no repeat on the 21st April when the next race night is scheduled. Other than that, no real issues although more tickets are need as there were some big gamblers there. Whoever you are, get along to the poker nights.
19th January Music in the month
Devin Jade had to cancel due to illness but “Marley Blandford” stepped in at the last minute and entertained the club members, another free event for all members and their guests.
20th January Fashion Show
What a fantastic evening was had with 114 ladies present. I was not there myself as skipped away for a cheeky ski holiday. Not sure how much we raised at the moment for the charity but suffice to say thanks to Lesley Bleach for organising, to all the helpers who assisted and especially the volunteer models, well done.
27th January Burns Night
Was a lovely evening, Not Rod was very entertaining and judging by the photo’s I have seen on social media the ladies really enjoyed the evening. The pints of Heavy, whiskey and Baileys went down well along with “Neeps, Tatties and Mince” with the traditional Haggis. The piper did well, although I did have to drag him off -he wanted to play all night. A big thank you too Dave Dougan for the Carlton Club version of the address to the Haggis and special thanks goes to Kerry, Gina, Maggie, Lyn, Clive & Steve for the lovely food. Looks like you may have that gig again Kerry, it was lush.
