Dear Members
The 11th newsletter from me, just over half way through my year.
I intend to hold another Mother’s Day Dinner in March and I expect the take up to be fairly high, I would not want to disappoint all those who wish to attend this so please watch out for news of this event in near future as it will be limited.
What’s been going on?
17th Dec Kids Christmas Party & Christmas Draw
60 children attended this event, the Grotto looked great so big thanks to Paul for organising, helped by Chris & Gordon. I had lots of parents say how lovely it looked. All the children were well entertained and carefully supervised by Santa’s helpers Rosie and Debbie. The lovely food was organised by Lyn, Kerry & Gina, a special thanks to Roger Reynolds for helping us out again. The Christmas Draw took place at 1900hrs after the party and there were 56 prizes on offer. Karl won the star prize with lots of other members winning bottles of wine, spirits and other items such as gammon joints and cheese boards, a total of over £1,200 worth of prizes.
23rd December Christmas Disco / Karaoke
A double event took place with one of our resident DJs (Chris “Smashie” Jenkins) spinning the wheels of steel and Phil “the tonsils” Dunk, master of karaoke ceremonies. About 50 people were there in the evening and all had a great night. I can’t tell you who won the “Fairytale of New York” sing off, but he does a lovely Chilli?
26th Dec Boxing Day
Was a music in the month event Katie Grace kicked us off to a really nice start, followed by our very own Pat Tanter & Dave Wright with a great set. Kev (Kojaks) Smith rounded off the night, or so I thought !!! but it turned into a bit of a jam session with all getting involved. A truly wonderful night which I really appreciated. Thanks Guys.
New Year’s Eve
The Great Sultans were the entertainment for this night, slight issues with the link to get the TV and band/DJ coordinated for midnight (countdown clock was switched to BBC2) which didn’t help. But despite this most people had a great night in the presence of their immediate company. (Thanks to Steve and Lyn for Buffet.)
Bingo
On the 8th January was very well supported again, we may need a bigger club J

- I would also welcome any positive comments regarding improving the smoking/vaping area.
