President's Newsletter 10

Dear Members
My 10th Newsletter to you, there’ll might be one more before I pop off skiing in a few weeks, but don’t hold your breath😊 Members & guests your support for events in 2023 has been greatly appreciated, I look forward to seeing you in 2024
Thank you to all those writing in & passing on verbal comments about the new furniture. It’s a great investment for the club & whilst we are proud of it, we would like to keep it that way for many years to come. Concerns have been raised by some members where dogs have been seen on seats. Members please refrain from doing this unless you have a protective covering with you.
The inclement weather has prevented many children from the use of our outside facilities. Parents must always be mindful of other members when inside by monitoring your children, a couple of near misses have occurred with electrical leads & curtains which could have cause some distress for parents & the club. Also please prevent children from playing on furniture.
Ever tried clay pigeon shooting? A 60-bird clay shoot at Brick Kiln Farm, near Four Marks, Alton happens on the last Sunday of every month. All are welcome, and no previous experience is necessary. Please contact Alan Bishop or Pete Ogden for further details or leave your contact details behind the bar or through the suggestions/request form on the web page.
A huge congratulations goes to Steve Avis who has been given an Honorary Membership in recognition of the many years of time, effort & dedication he has put into this club, with over 15years in some capacity on running the club. I can only thank him for his sterling efforts. (Well done Steve)
A reminder that members must sign in their guests for every visit to the club, guest are required to leave when the member signing them in leaves the club. There have been occasions when this requirement under our licencing condition have not been followed. Members flouting this rule will be subject to committee involvement.
You will notice a slight change in the happy hour offerings within the club, this has been altered for the benefit of members whilst attracting attendance at your club.
What’s been going on
The committee have been mostly reviewing 2023 events & setting out plans to keep the club moving forward in a challenging environment. Tough times are ahead, but we will endeavour to improve whenever while maintaining the club fit for purpose.
What can I say about the panto players? Absolutely fantastic, it gets better every year. Well done cast & all the backstage crew, our brilliant young future members shone a brightly this year & of course a big thank you to our resident director Alan Jenkins. He really doesn’t need much acting up to play the part of the baddie😊 So the face paint comes off for this year & hopefully the search will be in full swing for a suitable script for next year. Thanks guys & gals (that includes you JW & AJ😊). You deserve a big wrap party (Well Done)

I also issue an appeal for any businesses or individuals who would like to support the installation of a Community Defibrillator External Cabinet, that could be used in cases of cardiac arrest. The national defibrillator network provides the NHS ambulance services with vital information about defibrillators across the UK so that in those crucial moments after a cardiac arrest, they can be accessed quickly to help save lives. www.thecircuit.uk Please contact me if you can help, donations of any size will be gratefully accepted.
